When the theoretical misses Reality

I have just finished my logic class in seminary, and it was a beast. I feel however that logic is a discipline that is extremely unfruitful. I can see certain important aspects of logic that can help in everyday life and in certain dialouge situations, but on the whole i beleive logic to be quite trivial and nonsensical.
I am writing a paper entitled, "Libertarianism & Compatibilsim within Free Will Concerning Moral Evil." This paper is an utter stupid endevaor that i feel has wasted my life. When i have talked to people in my life and even at seminary they wonder and ask me, "What does this have to do with reality, why and how does it effect my own life?" I tell them, absolutley nothing. We live in a world where we have homelessness and drug-abuse and prostitution under our very noses. We claim in the acedemic world that we are equiping future leaders to change the world.. one person at a time. If what i have learned from logic this year can ever help me win a person to Christ, outside the academic world speaking, then i will eat my own words.
The point i am trying to make is that if we as Christians who are in the academy truly care about the world outside the walls of our institutions then we need to start acting like it. When the theoretical, (like logic classes and other abstract philosophical classes such as Metaphyics, Phenomonology, and others) do not invade the reality it is truly pointless. I find that at my conclusion of seminary and of my academic ride so far, all that most of my proffesors care about is "academic masturbation." It is a sense of getting pleasure off your own smarts and then really beleiving that you are changing something or someone when it actuality no one really does. If we refuse to help the widowed, the orphan, the stripper, the porn star, the drug-abuser,... then we have failed to love others like Christ has told us to do. I know this sounds like a rant and i guess it is, but it needed to be said. I will clarify other issues on this post in future posts.

The problem we find ourselves in

This is my first time writing on this blog site for quite some time. I have regained that itch for writing and sharing my ideas for the world to read and critique. I hope this attempt is more fruitful than the last.

This post is entitled, "The problem we find ourselves in" this is simply a post meaning, 'we as the church have a problem, and we are in need of reform and re-imagining what it means to be the church, and to be Christian.' I hope to all who read this, that, it will be a breath of fresh air, it will give you a place to argue, debate, and dialogue. This is the opening question on this ongoing dialogue, " How should we as the Christians , reform, or re-imagine the church to make it actually be more Christ-like?"

The Deity known as Christ!

I have to write a theology paper soon on the nature of who Christ is. I have come across a view known as "adoptionism." this view beleives that Christ was born imaculatly by mary, but not divine, only human. Since no human was ever born throguh this way before, is it be safe to say that Christ wasnt either? I beleive that Christ became divine only after the holy spirit came upon him whilw he was baptized by John the Baptist. If we look at the New Testament we can see that only after Christ was baptized did he start doing and perfroming his miralces. is this a coincidence? i beleive not. if you want to study this study at more length you should it is very intrigiung and thought-provoking!

Christian Democrats!

I am a Christian Democrat, and i use both terms very loosely. I love my Country, but i Love God more. I am for social issues, such as.. ending poverty, homlessness, universal healthcare, and equal rights to all. I know many conservatives, will applaude my ambitions and stance, but many will not support them. Why? i do not know? A Change needs to be made in our country, politacally and Relgiously. Are you going to be the one for change? Blessings!

Theology & Science

I am currently studying theology and science at school, i am very interested in this subject matter. Do any of you out there have reasons for studying these issues. Do you beleive that Theology and Science should be in a dialouge model, or a conflict model? How should we as Christians dialouge with atheist's or naturalists?
